SPEED DEMON SKATEBOARD CONTEST
July 5th, Sekolah Menengah Taman Kosas
Wow this suprised me alot. I think most of us didn't know about this contest. I happend to find out about it when i was approving a friend request from a local skater name Azariz in myspace. As usual, i only add people with their own pic and have a profile there. Not putting some shitty or fake image of themselves. So i found some skate event photos in his profile and save them and straight e-mail to Azariz. Thanks to him for providing me some information about the contest.
By looking at the photos below, it reminds me of me and Wan Kedah glory days of old school skateboarding. There were no skatepark back then except in Bukit Cerakah which are too far away. When i was younger with Joe Ipoh and others old skate friends. Normally we just grab anything that we found at the junk yard, construction areas be it a plywood, metal, etc. We just grab anything that we felt useful and can skatebale with. We made our own funbox, jump ramp, a rail made of wood, long mini quarter pipe just like the old school flavor style and many more. That's how we do it back then and looking at the event below i'm doubt those park item were build by those skateboard community at Taman Kosas. Kudos to them. Working together, friendship and unity is the main thing. And hell yeah, sometimes skate at those commercial skatepark ain't no fun too. So just skate anywhee or build your own DIY skatepark. If people like me, Joe Ipoh, Wan Kedah, Pa'Din, Keiron and others still managed to skate unill today and even some of us used to be sponsored and some still is. So can you.
We start with our own DIY skatepark and we improve our skills from there. A real good skatepark only existed in the early 2000. So it's not an excuse when you say that you can't be a pro coz there's no skatepark at your area. That's totally incorrect coz we don't have any skatepark back then and some of us managed to be a wellknown pro skater example like Joe Ipoh, Pa'Din and Keiron. So just go out and skate!!! If you shy to go to the skatepark coz there's too many pros. Well don't be. But if you still shy then try to build your own DIY skatepark or go skate at your tennis court or any court or parking lot and just street skating. Start with a small launcher, manual pad or a small long rails. Wanna get a better materials then collect some money amongst your skate friends in your area let say RM10 per person and buy some new woods or ask the guy at the hardware or metal workshop to do a simple rail for you. Offcourse do bring a along a sample photos of the rails or what so ever plus the specs that you need. Well, all the best to all those DIY skaters out there!!! You guys rulez!!!! Next time if there's any contest like this please do inform us!!!
