Shah Alam Xtreme Park , Shah Alam, Selangor
8th - 9th August 2007
Event organised and sponsored by Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA)
Managed by Extreme Sports Association of Malaysia (ESAM)
1st bowl competiton in Malaysia? Can you believe that? I mean, do you know who was the 1st local bowl or pool rider? When was the last time you skate or seen a bowl? If you asked me, the 1st bowl i've ever remember were those at Bukit Cerakah (now Bukit Cahaya) concrete skatepark build in 1990. And the last i skated was the one at X-Speed indoor skatepark in Mid Valley Megamall. But none have contest in the bowl. So the last 2 days event was a history for our scene. It was a great moment to all of us. I'm suprised that only in few months we actually have a good bowl rider and carv boarder (only lack of bowl / pool board setup). I've seen many old friends started to skate again and i've seen many old timer bmxers ride their old bmx bike in the park. This is one of the reason to have a proper skatepark here. Unlike others that have wasted a lot of money but yet none of us can skate there. It's not even designed or consulted by any professional / experience skatepark architechure. Duh!!!!
Unlike MBSA Shah Alam Extreme Park. They are professionally well done with international standards. Nough say... So if you were not here during the 1st bowl contest. Well you have missed the greatest moments. Those who compete were the pioneers and will always be remembered. I mean can you believe it, kid as young as 9 years old competing with grown up dude at 34. It was an open contest from beginner to pro. I mean some pro rider can't even believe what they saw that day where bunch of school kids really ripped the bowl. Most of them can do airial transfer from the mid end bowl over the spine to a mini bowl. Adam, this 9 years old kid was the youngest among the others. He's very brave to drop in from the mid end bowl and launched over to the other bowl. Even tough his run was abit shaky but the crowd was very supportive. Then there's this kid name Boboi who very consistant on his run during the prelims and make it to the finals. Most interesting about Boboi is that he only skated for few months. The crowd are so supportive and enjoy at the same time.
