MELAKA "EXTREME MERDEKA CHALLENGE" 2006

Melaka Sentral, Melaka

This was my second time of being invited as one of the judges in Melaka States skate contest. I've just recovered from "Shingle". Luckily it wasn't that bad as it looks. Anyway Melaka weather is really hot and also it's the main city for tourism for it's historical culture. Arrived here on Friday night with my son and Saf of Eastpak (one of the sponsors). We spend the night at Faiz MESA house. Thanks a lot for the hospitality.

On Saturday morning, we were invited to attend the launching ceremony (compulsary). We hadn't had enough of rest yesterday as we had a lot of chat the other night. It's a bit dull during the morning. After the launching they had a soft short demo from the freestyle bmxers. That's all i have to say. Saturday was not my day as the schedule written that skateboard contest will only starts tomorrow. So we "jalan-jalan" around the Melaka Sentral. Melaka Sentral is something like KL Sentral but the different is that Melaka Sentral is the terminal bus station in Melaka States and it's slightly smaller offcourse. It has a lot of shop lots, restaurants, etc inside. So it's not a boring as we think and it's fully air-conditioning inside. Thank God!!

After finished the event today, we went out "makan" and "jalan-jalan". We went out to had "Nasi Lemak" at this secret spot brought by Faiz. Really nice.. After that, we headed to eat "ikan bakar" or seafood at the beach side. The idea of eating at the beach side near the Balakong beach side is a bad idea. The service was really bad. We only ordered some hot drinks and it arrived about 20 minutes later and guess what. My drinks is cold not hot anymore. Yet the food arrived about 10-20 minutes later just for "Roti John" and guess what? It doesn't taste like "Roti John". So later that night we headed to had another nice cool drinks at a stall near Mahkota Parade area and we were stomped with more friends from the Gencos team. Later that night, we went to Faiz's Roza Heritage skateshop. It's kinda cool skate shop and nice place. You guys should come and visit the shop during the night especially Saturday night. Oh well, what a night. At Faiz home, we had a delicious food spared for us by Faiz's mom. And yes we eat again (supper).

DAY 2
Ok, this is the day that we are waiting for. Yet we had another delicious breakfast prepared by Faiz's mom. Faiz already left us early in the morning. As we arrived the event venue today. The arena was full with skaters. You name it; all team from Huyo, KL Minute, Gencos, Shut Up, Crossover, are here to compete.

There are about more than 40 contestant for the first event. All of them are devided into groups and each groups have 3-4 contestant. They have 2 runs and each runs were given 4 minutes. Summary report soon!!!
