HONG KONG TEAM VISITS MSIA, 2007

February 3rd - 10th 2007,

It's really nice and honor to see friends from other country came down to our country. Especially people that you know and yet are skateboarder. Last month, an old friend of mine Warren; team manager for Hong Kong extreme team came down to Malaysia with 10 of his best skaters and inliners for their AXG07 training trip in Bukit Kiara Skatepark. When we asked Warren why did they choose Malaysia for their training base why not in Shanghai or anywhere else? The reason is that in SMP Park Shanghai it was way too far from the city. Same thing with the covered skatepark in Thailand (the one they used for the Asian Indoor Games). It's too far away from the city and the same thing goes to most Korean skatepark except for Taiwan. But why didn't they go to Taiwan since they had the best skatepark there? Well since they (X-Federation) were under the supervision of Olympic Council of Hong Kong. There are some political reason for not going to Taiwan. The other reason they choose Malaysia is becoz Bukit Kiara park is near the city and yet it was covered. They stayed in Cititel Mid Valley Hotel which took them less than 10 minutes to reach Bukit Kiara park. Another reason is that it's easy to communicate with Malaysian people since most Malaysian can speak English (2nd language subject in school) and offcourse Mandarin and Cantonesse with the local Chinesse here. Being here it's like their second home. Lastly, things are cheap here and it's reasonable for them.

Well, Warren and all his crew are always welcome here. I have know Warren for almost 6 years before the X-Fed was formed. Warren and HK team are like our family now. Besides ripping and jamming at Bukit Kiara. We also managed to bring them along for night skating and "makan-makaning" around KL. Here's what happened, Johny Tang was badly injured on the 4th day and was sent to GH for medical check up and x-ray. Thank god he's ok and thanks a million to brother Abenik for his hospitality. Later that night we when for makan and long chat at Pandan Indah best Tom Yam Restaurant Sinar Mesra. You guys should check the Tom yam man. It was the best in town. So the next day, after finished their training at Kiara park. Pa'Din, Joe Ipoh and us (skatemalaysia crew) decided to bring them for night skating. We brought them to dataran Klang. Warren and us did caught some footage (maybe will insert in the upcoming Panorama DVD). Day 6, Warren and HK team managed to visit and skate at the Shah Alam concrete park but sadly they were chased out by the security guard. But since they were from HK, Warren managed to negotiate with the guard for letting them skate just for 10 minutes and they will leave soon after that. Tim Altic (The park designer) was there but there's nothing that he can do. It was the MBSA orders to keep out skaters to go in there. Well, the rest of the day they were skating at Bukit Kiara skatepark till Friday 9th Feb.

Before they went back on 10th Feb. There was this incident hapended in the hotel (Cititel). One of the skater skate in the hotel area and the tiles was like wood or something and there was a scratch. Not really a scratch actually. Just a dirt or marks of the wheels coz the floor was waxed. The hotel people tried to charge them the damage for how many thousand ringgits for it. They didn't even try to clean it. Warren really pissed off this situation coz the hotel person didn't want to try to clean it the mark stain area on the tile but instead charge them money. So Warren asked them to see the hotel supervisor coz it's bullshit. But they didn't call the supervisor either. So here's what Warren did. They clean the floor that day (i think the 4th day) and the mark stained was remove and the floor was good as new again. While the hotel people just quiet after they managed to remove the stains and mark. When i heard about this. It's really a shamed coz Malaysian people try to take advantage of tourist. I'm really pissed off on the part that the hotel people didn't want to try to clean it first instead charged them for it. They said it will cost them for doing the cleaning. That's BULLSHIT!!! Anyway they all are sad to leave us and they wish could stay longer.
